FREE WEBSITE
The term "FREE Website" is very wide. It can be anything from a free blog (like My Blog), a dedicated hosting account provided for free (that usually has some limits though), or a subdomain by a hosting company that also offers paid services. There are many to choose between, and I will here provide you with information about the one I prefer, and why I do so.
To be all honest, yeah sure I like to have all the bells and whistles that a paid hosting account with cPanel offers, and of course... I can only purchase it. It's not that expensive. Usually somewhere between $3 - $8 per month for a shared hosting (meaning you share space on a server together with hundreds of other websites). But I have set out to make use of FREE resources because I have seen them be just as good as the paid ones, so no need to pay for this kind of stuff...
Through the years I've tried some free webhosts where they offer cPanel, databases, e-mail accounts and more. But all to come to the conclusion that they are NOT reliable with regards to uptime. They claim to have an uptime of close to 99%, but really... no they are not at that level. All of a sudden when you think your website is online or you want some script on your server to execute, it's all down. That is NOT acceptable. Yes I know, this is a free service so who am I to complain...?? But your visitors don't care. They expect your website to be online when they visit it. So you're better off to have fewer features but a solid and stable site.
This is also why I have chosen to have Google's BLOGGER as my blogging platform. Google is one of the biggest companies in the online world and their stability is top-notch. However, I don't like to have my landing pages, splash pages and sales pages on a blogging platform, so I'm using a provider that offers both paid and free hosting, but with a great uptime. Actually I'd go so far and say 100% uptime, because during the time (and that's for quite a while) that I've been using this service, I haven't experienced one single minute of downtime!!
The platform is called WEEBLY and it's as easy as pancake to build your websites. Point and click is really all you need to do, and then enter your text and pictures/videos etc. To make it easy for you to understand I've made the below 15 minute video to show you how easy it is to build a site with Weebly. Take a look and go and register. It's completely free and it's working like a charm.
